Neighborhood Watch

The Neighborhood Watch is a project that is being implemented to increase the responsibility of homeowners for their own safety. One of the fundamental directions is cooperation with the police in this area. The patrol police officers together with district police officers attend meetings of homeowners, talk about the problems of the district and a particular house. The preventive conversations and the search for constructive algorithms help people solve the problems together and create a safe environment. Within the framework of this project, the police officers conduct basic briefings on emergency actions and talk with members of the neighborhood watch on different topics.

One of the important aspects is the creation of a chat for the police and homeowners to discuss different topics and consult on the problematic issues.

Joint patrols in the district allowed elaborating the "danger maps." The residents provided the necessary information to mark the places of drinking alcohol, potential places of taking drugs, etc., the places that the inhabitants of houses worry about such as dangerous crossings, the areas of streets where residents feel in danger, unlit streets, problem neighbors, etc. These maps were handed over to the chief of the patrol police, and the attention of patrol police officers was focused on the problem areas. This step strengthened the sense of safety of the inhabitants, according to their feedback.

The project has already been launched in Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Kremenchuh, Boryspil, Kherson, Uzhgorod, Rivne, and Kryvyi Rih.

It is soon planned to launch in Ivano-Frankivsk.
